Happy New Year all you wonderful people!!!!

And so there it is - 2022! Can you believe it?

To be honest - my new year wasn't a particularly exciting one. I was stuck at home with the dreaded Covid bug. Boooo.... to be honest - I feel New Year is overrated - a time where you are expected to have the best night of your life! And in reality, it's just another night.

However, I do like to bring it in usually with a hike, or a camp or a bothy night. These tend to be the best.

This year however I was curled up on the sofa - socially distant from my other half Robert, with the doggies snuggled up to me, snoozing and suffering mildly with covid symptoms. I think I managed to bring in the bells before shuffling off to bed.

And my thoughts on New Year resolutions...?

Not for me either - they are barely kept past the 3rd of January so why bother?!

Instead, I like to make a list of goals for the year - achievable ones - simple things, and big challenges are acceptable but most importantly achievable.

Normally this is made on New Year's eve while I sip a glass of wine or other beverage of choice. But this year I haven't actually done it yet! Shock horror!!!!!

So here goes - this is my list of goals for 2022 - and seeing as it'll be written on here for the entire world to see you can all hold me accountable!

My 2022 Goals

  • Do my Rock Climbing Instructor Assessment

  • Continue gaining my MCI (mountaineering and climbing instructor) QMDs (quality mountain days) ready for training

  • Complete my 'classic run/climb challenge' (more on this later.... watch this space as this is definitely the biggest, most epic challenge I've ever done! Eek!)

  • Another sail/hike/climb adventure (so much fun)

  • Get my partner Robert up a few more big climbs (cause he loves it really)

  • Continue to build my wee company (thanks guys - without my wonderful clients and shoppers this would never happen.... #shoplocal)

  • Take my niece and nephew up Curved Ridge (I promised and they have not forgotten!)

  • Do more paddle boarding

  • Run more

And so there it is - I think that's a good enough list to be getting on with!!!

So what's new for Summit Else this year?

  • The next block of beginners' navigation course dates are now up and ready to book

  • The start of this season's group guiding events are now available to book

  • Photography is now available to purchase

  • Soon there will be other merchandise such as cups and T-shirts available to purchase - all designs are by yours truly!

Once again - Thank you to all my wonderful clients and customers who made 2021 truly special. For putting food on my plates and in the bowls of my two cracking pooches. Without you, my dream job would not be possible and I look forward to a new season!!!

With love - from me (Siobhan), Sula and Coire
